p(x) = 6x^2 + kx - 2

f(x) = 2x - 1

f(x) = 0

2x - 1 = 0

x = 1/2

Put this value of f(x) in p(x) and equate it to 0, as the factor results in 0.

=> p(x) = 6x^2 + kx - 2

p(1/2) = 0

=> 6(1/2)^2 + k(1/2) - 2 = 0

=> 3/2 + k/2 - 2 = 0

=> (3 + k - 4)/2 = 0

=> 3 + k - 4 = 0

=> k = 1

Thus, the value of x is 1
