since it is given that point {1,2} passes through point 2x+ky=6,

so the point must satisfy the given equation,

hence,  x=1, y=2

putting in equation for k,

                    2x+ky=6

                   2×1+k×2=6

                     2+2k=6

                       2k=4

                       k=2

so the value of k is 2
