Find the value of k if the lines given by 2x + ky = 1 and 3x - 5y = 7 are

Answer:

2x+ky=1

=>Ky=1-2x =>y= (1/k)-(2/k)x {since y=mx+c, where m is slope}.

Slope = -2/k

Again,

3x-5y=7

=>5y=3x-7 =>y= (3/5)x-(7/5)

Slope= 3/5

when two lines are parallel, their slope will be same.

So, -2/k = 3/5 => k = -10/3.

So value of k is -10/3.
