Answer :

  • Value of k is - 3

Given :

  • x - 1 is a factor of 4x³ + 3x² - 4x + k

To find :

  • Value of k

Solution :

》4x³ + 3x² - 4x + k

  • Let p(x) = 4x³ + 3x² - 4x + k

Given x - 1 is a factor of 4x³ + 3x² - 4x + k then ,

》x - 1 = 0

》x = 1

⇢ p(1) = 4x³ + 3x² - 4x + k

⇢ 4(1)³ + 3(1)² - 4(1) + k

⇢ 4 + 3 - 4 + k

⇢ k + 3 = 0

⇢ k = - 3

Hence , Value of k is - 3

To Check :

》p(1) = 3 + (-3)

》3 - 3

》0
