X=1
Then,k×1-3×1+k
=2k-3=0 (x-1)is the factor of p (x)
=2k=3
=k=3/2

Question :

Find the value of k,if x-1 is a factor of polynomial p (x)=kx²-3x+k

Solution :

Given Polynomial =

p(x) = kx²-3x+k

x-1 = 0 (Given)

x = +1

polynomial p(x)= kx²-3x+k

p(1) = k(1)²-3(1)+k

k×1-3+k = 0

k+3+k = 0

2k -3 = 0

2k = 3

k = 3/2

The required value of k = 3/2 .
