Let f (x)=y^3+ky+2k-2
y+1=0
=)y=-1
Now,
since , polynomial f (x) is divisible by (y+1)
then,
=)f (-1)=0
=) (-1)^3+k (-1)+2 (-1)-2=0
=) -1-k-2-2=0
=) -5-k=0
Hence, k=-5
Hope it helps u.

kirti55: no please try again
Paradoxialchampion: check ur ans
kirti55: correct ans is k=3
Paradoxialchampion: how?
Paradoxialchampion: -5 is correct ans
Paradoxialchampion: u can check in equation by putting value of k in LHS..
Paradoxialchampion: you got LHS=RHS...belief in method or concept not ans.
