polynomial is x²-8x+k

 \alpha  +  \beta  = 8

 \alpha  \beta  = k

by, A.T.Q,

alpha² + beta² = 40,

(alpha+beta)² - 2 alpha*beta = 40

( 8)² - 2*k = 40

64 - 2k = 40

-2k = 40-64

-2k = -24

2k = 24

k = 12.

hence, hope it helps u..

please please mArK it as brainlist.....
