5 x + 3y = 9 eq 1

3x + 5y. = 7. eq 2

Multiplying the first eq with 3 and second eq with 5 so that the y value can be found out

We get,

15x + 9y = 27

15x+ 25y = 35

Now, adding the both eqs , we get,

-16y = -8

Cancel both the minus

We get

y = 0.5

Substitute y= 0.5 in eq 1

5x + 1.5 = 9

x = 1.5

x + y = 1.5 + 0.5

= 2
