Solution :-

16 = 4 + 2 ( p + 1 )

4 + 2 ( p + 1) = 16

2 ( p + 1 ) = 16 - 4

2 ( p + 1 ) = 12

p + 1 = 12/2

p +1 = 6

p = 6 - 1

p = 5

So, the value of p is 5
