Answer:

Method 1:

Value of (P+Q)/(P-Q) = Value of [Q(P/Q +1)/Q(P/(Q -1)]

= Value of [(P/Q +1) / (P/(Q -1)] ………………………………………(1)

Given P/Q = 7. Substituting for P/Q in (1),

Value of (P+Q)/(P-Q) = (7 + 1) / (7–1) = 8/6 = 4/3 (Answer)

Method 2:

From P/Q = 7, on cross multiplication P = 7Q.

Substituting for P,

Value of [(P+Q)/(P-Q)] = Value of [(7Q + Q)/(7Q - Q)]

= Value of [Q (7 + 1)/Q(7 - 1)]

Cancellation of Q from numerator and denominator,

Value of [(P+Q)/(P-Q)] = (7+1)/(7–1) = 8/6 = 2x4/2x3 = 4/3 (Answer)
