heya \\  \\  \\ for \: equal \: roots \: discrimnant \: must \: be \:  = 0 \\  \\  \\ d = 25 - 4p {}^{2}  \\  \\ d = 0 \\  \\ 4p {}^{2}  = 25 \\  \\ p = 5 \div 2 \:  \:  \:  \:  \: or \:  \:  \:  \: p =  - 5 \div 2

Quadratic equation:
a {x}^{2}  + bx + c = 0


For equal roots,

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac = 0

Thus,

25 - 4(p)(p) = 0 \\ 25 - 4 {p}^{2}  = 0 \\  \frac{25}{4}  =  {p}^{2}  \\  \pm \:  \frac{5}{2}  = p
