As, x = −1 and x = −2 are the roots of the given equation.Put x = −1 in px2+3x +q = 0p(−1)2 +3 (−1) + q = 0p −3 +q = 0p+q = 3−−−−−−(1)Put x = −2 in  px2+3x +q = 0p(−2)2 +3 (−2) + q = 04p −6 +q = 04p+q = 6−−−−−−(2)From (1) and (2) we get p = 1Put p = 1 in equation (1)q = 2now q − p = 2 − 1 = 1
