Find the value of p such that the quadratic equation (p-12)x2 -2(p-12)x +2 =0 has equal roots.

Answer :

a=p-12

b=2(p-12)

c=2

Now given equation have equal roots so ;

D=b^2-4ac=0

=>

2(p-12)^2 -4(p-12)(2)

=>

By solving this equation we get equation

X=p-12

=>

4x^2-8x

X=2 or0

P=12 or 14
