x² - 1/x²
= (2 + √3)² - 1/(2 + √3)²
= ((2 + √3)^4 - 1) / (2 + √3)²
= ((7+4√3)² - 1) / (2 + √3)²
= (97 + 56√3 - 1) / (2 + √3)²
= (96 + 56√3) / (7 + 4√3)
= 8√3
= (2 + √3)² - 1/(2 + √3)²
= ((2 + √3)^4 - 1) / (2 + √3)²
= ((7+4√3)² - 1) / (2 + √3)²
= (97 + 56√3 - 1) / (2 + √3)²
= (96 + 56√3) / (7 + 4√3)
= 8√3
