In fig ( i ) angle B is 80° and ABC is isosceles triangle with B as one of the base angles and these are equal.

So angle x= 180- 2× 80

= 180- 160

= 20°

In triangle ACD angle A is marked = x = 20°

ACD is also an isosceles triangle in which

angle A = angle C=20°

So the remaining angle D = y = 180 - ( 20+20)

= 140°

In fig ( ii) ABC an isosceles triangle with equal base angles B and C = x

x = ( 180 - 30 ) ÷ 2

= 150 ÷ 2

= 75°

In triangle BCD which is also an isosceles triangle with C as right angle and base angles B = D = y =( 180 - 90) ÷ 2

= 90 ÷2 = 45°
