Answer:

x = 9cm

Step-by-step explanation:

In triangle ABD,

H^2 = P^2 + B^2

hence, AB^2 = AD^2 + BD^2

13^2 = AD^2 + 5^2

AD^2 = 13^2 - 5^2

AD^2 = 169 - 25

AD = ✓144

AD = 12cm

In triangle ADC

H^2 = P^2 +B^2

hence, AC^2 = AD^2 + DC^2

15^2 = 12^2 + x^2

x^2 = 225 - 144

x = ✓81

x = 9cm

Answer:

As we see ABD is right angle triangle

So by Pythagoras theorem

H²= P² + B²

AB² = AD² + BD²

(13)² = AD²+ (5)²

169= AD²+ 25

AD² = 169–25

AD² = 144

AD = 12

Triangle ADC is also right angle triangle

By using Pythagoras theorem

H²= P² + B²

AC² = AD² + DC²

(15)² = (12)² + DC²

225 = 144+DC²

DC²= 225–144

DC²= 81

DC = 9

Therefore x = DC = 9 cm

Hope it helps you :)
