 {(x  + y)}^{2}  +  {(x - y)}^{2}  \\  =  {x}^{2}  + 2xy +  {y}^{2}  +  {x}^{2}  - 2xy +  {y}^{2}  \\  = 2 {x}^{2}  + 2 {y}^{2}  \\  = 2( {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2} ) \\
