Find the value of x²-2x-35, if x=-5

Answer:

x2-2x-35=0

x2-7x+5x-35=0

x(x-7)+5(x-7)=0

(x-7)(x+5)=0

x-7=0 or x+5=0

x=7 or x=-5

Check: x=7 ,LHS = 49-14-35

=0 =RHS

x=-5, LHS = 25+10-35

=0=RHS

Ans: x=7 or x=-5
