find the value of y from the system of equations x-y=2,x+2y=-4​

x-y=2,. (1)

x+2y=-4. (2)

subract above equation (1) from (2)

x+ 2y = -4

x- y. = 2

y = -2

x-y=2 -----(1)

x+2y=4 -----(2)

Subtract (1) from (2)

(-) x+2y=4

x-y =2

________________

3y=2

y=2/3

Substitute y=2/3 in (1)

x-y=2

x-2/3=2

x=2+2/3

x=8/3

THEREFORE x=8/3 AND y=2/3
