Find the value x if x-8/5=x-12/9

Answers

12
by taking LCM, we get
x*5-8*1/5 = x*9-12*1/9
= 5x-8/5=9x-12/9
by cross multiplication
=(5x-8)9 = (9x-12)5
= 45x-72 = 45x-60
45x-45x = 72-60
x = 12

Given :

\frac{x-8}{5}=\frac{x-12}{9}

To Find :

Find the value of x

Solution:

Given equation :\frac{x-8}{5}=\frac{x-12}{9}

We are supposed to find the value of x

\Rightarrow 9(x-8)=5(x-12)\\\Rightarrow 9x-72=5x-60\\\Rightarrow 9x-5x=60+72\\\Rightarrow 4x=132\\\Rightarrow x=\frac{132}{4}\\\Rightarrow x=33

Hence the value of x is 33
