a and b are the zero of the polynomial x² + ax + b

_____________ [ GIVEN ]

• We have to find the value of a and b.

_____________________________

Now,

Sum of zeros = -b/a

=> - a/1

=> - a

Product of zeros = c/a

=> b/1

=> b

Now,

Sum of zeros = - a

→ - a = a + b

→ - a - a = b

→ - 2a = b

→ a = - b/2 ________ (eq 1)

_____________________________

Product of zeros = b

→ b = a × b

→ b = ab

→ b = (- b × b)/2 [From equation (eq 1)]

→ 2b = - b²

→ b = - 2

Put the value of b in equation (eq 1)

→ a = - (-2)/2 = 1

_____________________________

a = 1 and b = - 2
