Find the values of k for which the polynomial kx²+x+k has equal roots​

If a quadratic equation has equal roots, then the determinant,

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac  \:  = 0

where, a = coefficient of

 {x}^{2}

b = coefficient of

x

and c is the constant part.

Here, a = k, b = 1 and c = k

So,

1 - 4 {k}^{2}  = 0

4 {k}^{2}  = 1

k =  \sqrt{ \frac{1}{4} }

k =  \frac{1}{2}

or

k =  -  \frac{1}{2}
