Since x and y vary directly, the ratios of each of these values will be constant.
This implies,
X/y = 1/8 = P1/28 = P2/64 = P3/160 = 13/Q
Thus we see, 1/8 = p1/28
P1 = 28/8 = 7/2.....(1)
Similarly p2/64 = 1/8
=>P2 = 64/8 = 8......(2)
P3/ 160 = 1/8
=> p3 = 160/8 = 20....(3)
And finally 13/q = 1/8
=> q = 104.....(4)
This implies,
X/y = 1/8 = P1/28 = P2/64 = P3/160 = 13/Q
Thus we see, 1/8 = p1/28
P1 = 28/8 = 7/2.....(1)
Similarly p2/64 = 1/8
=>P2 = 64/8 = 8......(2)
P3/ 160 = 1/8
=> p3 = 160/8 = 20....(3)
And finally 13/q = 1/8
=> q = 104.....(4)

Answer:
Wegener suggested that perhaps the rotation of the Earth caused the continents to shift towards and apart from each other. ... Today, we know that the continents rest on massive slabs of rock called tectonic plates. The plates are always moving and interacting in a process called plate tectonics.
