Answer: (i) y = 80°   ;   x = 50°

(ii) x = 110°  ;  y = 70°

Step-by-step explanation:

(i) y = 80°                      {∴vertically opposite angle

x + y + 50° = 180°         {∴ angle sum of triangle

x + 80° + 50° = 180°

x = 50°

(ii) x = 50° + 60° = 110°      {∴ exterior angle

x + y = 180°                        { ∴ linear pair

y = 180° - 110°

y = 70°

I) angle y = 80°

vertical opposite angle

the sum of all angle of a triangle = 180°

so,

180°= 50°+80°+x

x= 180-(50+80°)

= 180°-130

x= 50°

ii) the sum of all angles of a triangle= 180°

so,

50+60+y= 180

110+y=180

y= 180-110

y=70

in a triangle, external angle and adjacent interior angle form a liner pair

so,

x+y=180

so,

x+70=180

x=180-70

x=110
