Answer:

2y+13=5y+4( diagonals bisect each other)

13-4=5y-2y

9=3y

y=3

x+8=16-x

2x=8

x=4

Concept:

Parallelogram and its properties.

Answer:

x = 4

y = 3

Given:

OA = x +8

OB = 5y + 4

OC = 16 – x

OD = 2y + 13

Find:

The value of x and y.

Solution:

According to the property of parallelogram that “The diagonals of parallelogram always bisect each other.”

⸫ OA = OC

x + 8 = 16 – x

x + x = 16 – 8

2x = 8

x = 8/2

x = 4

Similarly, OB = OD

5y + 4 = 2y + 13

5y – 2y = 13 – 4

3y = 9

y = 9/3

y = 3

Hence, x = 4 and y = 3.
