ANSWER:

  • Value of x is 10.
  • Value of x is 10.Value of y is 3.

GIVEN:

  • 3x+y = 33
  • x-y = 7

TO FIND:

  • Value of 'x'and 'y'

SOLUTION:

=> x-y = 7

=> x = y+7. .....(i)

Now;

=> 3x+y = 33.

Putting x = (y+7) in eq(i) we get;

=> 3(y+7)+y = 33

=> 3y+21+y = 33

=> 4y+21 = 33

=> 4y = 33-21

=> 4y = 12

=> y = 12/4

=> y = 3

Putting y = 3 in eq(i) we get;

=> x = 3+7

=> x = 10

  • Value of x is 10.
  • Value of x is 10.Value of y is 3.

NOTE:

  • This method of finding values of 'x' and 'y' is called substitution method.
  • There are many other methods like elimination ; cross multiplication etc
