After solving the above expression we get the value of x and y

     Subtracting equation (1) from equation (2), we get

         $(x+y)-(y+3)=20-10\\ \\ x+y-y-3=10\\ \\ x-3=10\\ \\ x=10+3=13$

Putting the value of x in equation (1) , we get the value of y
