Here,

 \textbf{z }{  \:  \: \& \:  \:} \textbf{exterior angle adjacent to z} \textrm{  form linear pair i.e. } \\  \tt{z + 120\degree = 180\degree} \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \cdots\rm(i)

And,

 \textbf{x}{,}  \: \bf{ y} {, } \:  \rm{and}  \: \:   \bf{z} \textrm{ are interior angles of a triangle, so} \\  \rm{}x + y + z = 180 \degree\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \cdots\rm(ii)

From Eqaution (i), we have,

z = 180\degree  - 120\degree \\ z = 60\degree

Now, Putting value of z in Equation (ii), we get,

x + y + z = 180\degree \\ x + y + 60\degree  = 180\degree \\ x + y = 180\degree - 60\degree \\ x + y = 120\degree
