External volume of the box =  60 cm X 45 cm X 32 cm = 86, 400 cm³

Internal volume of the box ie., inside box dimensions:
      (60 - 2 * 2.5 cm)  X (45 - 2 * 2.5 cm) X (32 - 2 * 2.5 cm)
      = 55 cm X 40 cm X 27 cm
      = 59, 400 cm³
This is the capacity of the box.

Volume of the wood used to make the box
     = 86,400 - 59, 400 = 27, 000 cm³
