Let p(x) = 3x^2 + 2x - 1

Let's take x = 1

p(1) = 3*(1)^2 + 2*1 - 1

= 3*1 + 2 - 1

= 3 + 2 - 1

= 5 - 1

= 4 ≠ 0

Let's take x = -1

p(-1) = 3*(-1)^2 + 2*(-1) - 1

= 3*1 - 2 - 1

= 3 - 2 - 1

= 0

Therefore p(-1) is a zero of the polynomial 3x^2 + 2x - 1

Hope it helps :)
