The Zero of the polynomial is the value of the variable for which the polynomial is 0 .

Let a be the zero of polynomial f(x ) = 4 - 7x

So, f(x) = 0 for x = a. So f(a) = 0 .

f( a) = 4 - 7(a) = 0

4 - 7a = 0

4 = 7a

a = 4/7 .
