x2+x−k(k+1)

Use the distributive property to multiply
k by k+1.
=> x2+x−(k2+k)

To find the opposite of k2+k, find the opposite of each term.
=> x 2+x−k2–k

Find one factor of the form xm+n, where
xm divides the monomial with the highest power x2 and n divides the constant factor
−k2−k. One such factor is x−k. Factor the polynomial by dividing it by this factor.
=> (x−k)(x+k+1)
