x^2-5x-6=0

x^2-(3+2)x-6=0

x^2-3x-2x-6=0

x(x-3)-2(x-3)=0

(x-3)(x-2)=0 i.e. x=2,3

Thus roots or zeros of polynomial x^2-5x-6 are 2 and 3.
