ANSWER:

  • Zeros of the above expression are 11 and (-13)

GIVEN:

  • P(x) = x²+2x-143

TO FIND:

  • Zeros of the quadratic polynomial.

SOLUTION:

=> x²+2x-143 = 0

=> x²+13x-11x-143 = 0

=> (x²-11x) +(13x-143) = 0

=> x(x-11)+13(x-11) = 0

=> (x-11)(x+13) = 0

Either (x-11) = 0

=> x = 11

Either (x+13) = 0

=> x = (-13)

Zeros of the above expression are 11 and (-13)

NOTE:

Some important formulas:

(a+b)² = a²+b²+2ab

(a-b)² = a²+b²-2ab

(a+b)(a-b) = a²-b²

(a+b)³ = a³+b³+3ab(a+b)

(a-b)³ = a³-b³-3ab(a-b)

a³+b³ = (a+b)(a²+b²-ab)

a³-b³ = (a-b)(a²+b²+ab)

(a+b)² = (a-b)²+4ab

(a-b)² = (a+b)²-4ab
