Hence, AD and ABC are parallel paths.

So,  $R_2, R_4 and R_3$ are in series.

So, $R_{ABC}$ = $R_2 + R_3 + R_4$

or  $R_{ABC}$ = 7 + 9 + 8

or  $R_{ABC}$ = 24 ohm

Now $R_1$  and  $R_{ABC}$ are in parallel.

so 1/R = 1/$R_1$ + 1/ $R_{ABC}$

or 1/R = 1/6 + 1/24

Therefore R = 4.8 ohm
