x + (x+2) + (x+4) = 54
3x + 6 = 54
3x = 54 - 6
3x = 48
or x = 48/3
or x = 16
therefore x+2 = 16 + 2 = 18
and x+4 = 16 +4 = 20
hence three conscutive even numbers are 16 , 18 and 20 .
