In this figure ABCE is a square with side 8 cm

So it's area would be = 8²= 64 cm²

And

CDE is a triangle with sides 5 cm ,5 cm and 8 cm

Let DX is perpendicular to CE then

Angle DXC =90°

and XC=4 cm

So The height of the triangle is

DX=√5²-4²

DX= 3 cm

Then the area of the triangle would be

=1/2×3×4

6 cm²

So the total area of the figure would be

64 cm²+6cm²= 70 cm²
