Answer:

If the diagram is analysed properly we get to know some information.

Information:

  • R1 and R2 are connected in series.
  • R3 and R4 are connected in series.
  • R1 and R2 are connected in parallel connection with R3 and R4.

Step 1: Calculate Net Resistance in between R1 and R2

⇒ R1 + R2 = Net Resistance

⇒ 2Ω + 3Ω = Net Resistance

⇒ 5Ω = Net Resistance between R1 and R2

Step 2: Calculate Net resistance between R3 and R4

⇒ R3 + R4 = Net Resistance

⇒ 1Ω + 4Ω = Net Resistance

⇒ 5Ω = Net Resistance

Step 3: Calculate Net Resistance between (R1, R2) and (R3, R4)

Since they are in parallel connection, the formula is:

1 / Net R = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2 + 1 / R3 + .....

We know that Net values are 5Ω for each, so the total parallel resistor would be:

⇒ 1 / Net R = 1 / 5 + 1 / 5

⇒ 1 / Net R = 2 / 5

Reciprocating on both sides we get,

⇒ Net R = 5 / 2 = 2.5Ω

Hence the effective Resistance between A and B is 2.5Ω.
