Let the first number be x ,then consecutive number will be x+1.

By given condition,
x+(x+1)=85
2x+1=85
2x=84
x=42.
And other number is x+1=43.
I hope it helps.

Hi Friend,

(x)(x+1)=85
2x+1=85
2x=85-1
2x=84
x=84/2
x=42

one number=x=42
second number=x+1=42+1=43
