Let the numbers be x and y

Now given that x+y= 108 ....(1)

x-y= 8 .....(2)

From (1) and (2) Cancelling x from equation,

2y = 100

y = 50

Putting y=50 in (1)

x+y = 108

⇒ x+50 = 108

⇒ x = 108 -50

⇒ x = 58

Hence the values of x and y are 58 and 50 respectively
