To find : original numbers .

Given : sum of two numbers  is 100 and ratio of numbers is  16:9 .

Solution :

  • As per the given condition we know that sum of two numbers is 100 and ratio of numbers is  16:9 .
  • Let , 16x and 9x be the two numbers .
  • Then according to condition we write as , 16 x  + 9x =100
  • Using transposition method we find the value of x , by transposing constants at RHS and leaving variables at LHS .
  • 16 x  + 9x =100

        25x =  100 \\ x=\frac{100}{25}  \\ x= 4

  • Now , original numbers are  :

       16 x =  16\times 4 = 64 \\ 9x =  9\times 4 = 36

Hence , numbers in ratio 16:9 are 64 and 36 respectively  .
