x+y=21 , x=21-y ...1
And, x×y=80....2
Putting the value of x in 2.
(21-y)y=80
21y-y^2=80
0=80+y^2-21y
y^2-21y+80=0
y^2-16y-5y+80=0
y(y-16)-5(y-16)=0
(y-16) (y-5)=0
Here, y-16=0
y=16
and, y=5
we can take any one value of y.
Now, value of x= x=21-y=21-5=16
So, the number is 5 and 16.
To que:
x+y=21 , x=21-y ...1
And, x×y=80....2
Putting the value of x in 2.
(21-y)y=80
21y-y^2=80
0=80+y^2-21y
y^2-21y+80=0
y^2-16y-5y+80=0
y(y-16)-5(y-16)=0
(y-16) (y-5)=0
Here, y-16=0
y=16
and, y=5
we can take any one value of y.
Now, value of x= x=21-y=21-5=16
So, the number is 5 and 16.
