Pythogorean triplets are the ones which satisfy the condition :
(side 3)² = (side 1)² + (side 2)²
or
(hypotenuse)² = (side 1)² + (side 2)²
The two most common pythagorean triplets we find everywhere are :
1) ( 3, 4, 5 )
2) ( 6, 8, 10 )
(3,4,5) ⇒ (5)² = (3)² + (4)² ∴ Checked!
(6,8,10) ⇒ (10)² = (6)² + (8)² ∴ Checked!

- We can say whether the triangle can be formed or not by sides, by checking whether the sum of every two sides is greater than the third side or not. If yes, triangle can be formed. Else, cannot!
3+4 > 5 ; 5+4 > 3 ; 5+3 > 4 [Triangle can be formed]
6+8 > 10 ; 6+10 > 8; 10+8 > 6 [Triangle can be formed]
- To draw the triangles, draw a side first of any of the lengths from the triplet.
- Then, using compass, make arcs of other two sides from each end point of the already drawn line segment.
- Now, join both the ends to the point made by the arc.
- Check angles made by every two adjacent sides and mark them.
- When it comes to the Pythogorean triplets, every triplet makes a right angled triangle, i.e., one of the angles will be equals to 90°. So, the triangles formed should be right angled triangle.
- If not, either you have made a mistake on drawing them, or the ones you have taken are not pythagorean triplets.
- To check that, measure every angle inside the triangle formed using a protractor.
- By sides, the triangle will be the scalene triangle, as no pythogorean triplets will have the same number repeated twice or thrice in them.
- Thus, the triangles formed with the pythogorean triplets will be Right Angled Scalene triangles.
