Given :  A figure showing angle x , y and 80°

To Find : Value of x and y

Solution:

y and 80°   are vertically opposite angles

Vertically opposite angles are equal

Hence y = 80°

x and 80°  form a linear pair

Sum of angles forming linear pair = 180°

=> x + 80° = 180°

Subtracting 80° from both sides

=> x + 80° - 80° = 180° - 80°

=> x  = 100°

x = 100°

y = 80°
