As, Opposite interior angles are equal

( 6x + 5y ) = 85° . . . Equation ( 1 )

As corresponding angles are equal

( 6x + 6y ) = 90° . . . Equation ( 2 )

Subtracting equation ( 1 ) from equation ( 2 )

⟹ ( 6x + 6y ) - ( 6x + 5y ) = 90° - 85°

⟹ ( 6x + 6y ) - ( 6x + 5y ) = 5°

⟹ 6x + 6y - 6x - 5y = 5°

⟹ 6y - 5y = 5°

⟹ ( 6 - 5 )y = 5°

⟹ y = 5°

Now, we have got the value of y, now to find the value of x, we can substitute 5° in place of Y in either equation ( 1 ) or equation ( 2 ). Both equation will give the same answer for the value of x.

Substituting 5° in place of y in equation ( 1 )

⟹ ( 6x + 5y ) = 85°

⟹ [ 6x + 5(5) ] = 85°

⟹ 6x + 25° = 85°
