Answer:

1/2 or -2/3

Solution:

Given that

g(x) = 0

g(x) = 6x² + x - 2

g(x) = 6(x)² + x - 2 = 0

g(x) = 6x² + x - 2 = 0

By splitting the middle term

[ We have to have two such numbers whose sum is x and their product should be product of -2 and 6x² . The two such numbers are 4x and -3x ]

g(x) = 6x² + 4x - 3x - 2 = 0

g(x) = 2x ( 3x + 2 ) - 1 ( 3x + 2 ) = 0

g(x) = (2x - 1) ( 3x + 2 ) = 0

➞ 2x - 1 = 0

➞ 2x = 1

➞ x = 1/2

OR

➞ 3x + 2 = 0

➞ 3x = -2

➞ x = -2/3

The value of x could be 1/2 or -2/3
