hello friends.

we have to find the value of x=?

solution:-
using distance formula :

AB = √(x2 -x1)² +(y2 - y1)1

here

given that
the distance between the points is = 8

= √ (3-x)² + (4-2)² = 8
=> (3-x)² + 2² =64. ( squaring both side)

=> 9 + x² - 6x + 4 = 64
=> x² - 6x = 64 -13
=> x² - 6x = 51 => x² -6x-51 = 0
=> x = {6 + √ (36 -4 ×1× -51)}/ 2
=> x =( 6 + √ 169)/ 2
= (6+13)/2 = 19/2 = 9.5 answer

= x = 6+-(√240)/2

= x= 3+-(2√15)
