(i) Given x = 5/2 , y = -3/4
 (x + y) ÷ (x - y)
⇒ [(5/2) +(-3/4)] ÷ [(5/2) -(-3/4)]
⇒ (10 - 3)/4 ÷ (10 + 3)/4
⇒ 7/4 ÷ 13/4
⇒ 7/4 × 4/13
⇒ 7/13 .

(ii) Given x = 1/4 , y = 3/2
 (x+y) ÷ (x-y)
⇒ [(1/4 + 3/2)] ÷ [(1/4 - 3/2)]
⇒ (1+6)/4 ÷ (1-6)/4
⇒ 7/4 ÷ 5/4
⇒ 2/4
⇒ 1/2.
