Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN:-

p(x) =  {x}^{2}  - 5

SOLUTION:-

LET,

p(x) =  {x}^{2}  - 5 = 0

 {x}^{2}  = 5

x  =±\sqrt{5}

x =  \sqrt{5}  \:  \: or \:  \: x =  -  \sqrt{5}

NOW LET,

\alpha=\sqrt{5}

\beta=-\sqrt{5}

We know that,

\alpha+\beta=\frac{-b}{a}

and

\alpha\beta=\frac{c}{a}

where,

a=1 ,b=0 and c=-5

then,

\alpha+\beta=\frac{-0}{1}

\alpha+\beta=0

\alpha\beta=\frac{-5}{1}

\alpha\beta=-5
