First war of independense was held in1857 it is also a mutiny means an armed rebillion against an authority. Many indians participated as the leader was BAHADUR SHAH ZAFAR the last mughal ruler and this mutiny started as the britishers forced indians to open bullets made up of cows fat which hindu consider pious. The mutiny began on 10 may 1857 in bengal.
